The designation of "Licensed Professional Counselor" (LPC) is explicitly associated with having met specific regulatory requirements under the Professional Counselor Licensure Act. To qualify as an LPC, an individual must hold a current and valid license issued by the appropriate licensing authority. While a degree in psychology may provide foundational knowledge, it is not sufficient on its own to qualify someone as a licensed professional counselor.
