Clients should be informed about their rights both in writing and verbally by the Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) to ensure comprehensive understanding and acknowledgment. This dual approach provides clients with a clear reference they can revisit and reflects an ethical obligation to inform them fully about what they can expect from the counseling process, including confidentiality, the scope of practice, and the role of the counselor.

Verbal communication allows for immediate interaction, where clients can ask questions and receive clarifications, while written materials serve as a lasting document that clients can refer back to anytime. This practice not only aligns with ethical standards but also promotes transparency and fosters an empowered client-counselor relationship.

Other suggested methods, such as a video presentation or only providing information during termination, do not holistically meet the clients' needs for understanding their rights throughout the counseling process.
